1. Look to see if the network cable (looks like a phone cord) is connected to the back of the computer and the wall. For a list of hot (active) ports, click here. If the cable is plugged into a port that is written in black on the active port sheet, that computer will not be able to log in. If the port is hot, most computers will have a light that flickers next to the cable on the back of the computer.
Computers that do not log in cannot access GroupWise, AR programs, STAR, OSIRIS, and other network applications. The computers may be able to access the Internet if the connection is good.
