Financial Aid Tips
1. Start Early Complete your
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the school's recommended
date (usually around March 1).
2. Keep Your Address Current
It is extremely important that you keep your address current with your school at
all times.
3. Respond Immediately and Completely
Pay close attention to your mailbox as you apply for financial aid. Any requests
for more information or actions to be taken by you should be taken care of
immediately. Depending on the size of the school, financial aid offices handle
anywhere from hundreds to tens of thousands of individual applications every
year, most of them in the spring and summer.
4. Ask Questions If you have
questions about any request a financial aid office makes or any information sent
to you, please call and ask.
5. Write Everything Down Keep
detailed records of your financial aid application process. Make copies of your
FAFSA, tax returns, and documents that you send to the financial aid office.
Write down whom you talked to and when you call a financial aid office. This
will help you and the office if questions arise.
